Jack Grealish admits having mental struggles this season and how Pep Guardiola has helped him overcome them
Jack Grealish has thanked Pep Guardiola for helping him during his tough time at Manchester City. He revealed that the manager constantly spoke to him to ensure things were good as training and performance levels dipped.
The Englishman went on to add that he owes a lot to the Spanish manager as he has been ready to help him on and off the pitch. The winger was delighted to reach the highs last season with the treble, but admitted that he has not been able to match the levels this season.

He said:
“Guardiola? Playing for this manager the only ever person who has been able to go and do what they want in a Pep team is [Lionel] Messi, which is fair enough. You can’t knock what the manager has done, he’s an incredible manager, a great guy with a really good heart as well. At times this season, I have struggled a little bit with myself and he’s been there for me all the time. I owe him a lot. He’s a great person and the best manager to ever exist.”
He added:
“It’s been a difficult season for me personally after the highs of last year. I spoke to the manager a lot and he’s been so good with me. I owe him a little bit and want to repay him now with my performances and the team as well. I speak to my friends in the [dressing room] every day, I know how important I am to the team. I speak to the manager and at the back end of last season you’ve seen how much the manager played me.”
Jack Grealish has struggled at Manchester City this season. He has scored just three goals and assisted twice in 30 appearances in all competitions for the Cityzens.

What next for Jack Grealish and Manchester City?
Jack Grealish still has time to redeem himself this season as Manchester City are active in three competitions. They are third in the Premier League table, with seven games to go, but are just a point behind Arsenal and Liverpool.
The Cityzens face Chelsea in the FA Cup later this month at Wembley. They will be hoping to beat the Blues after managing draws in the Premier League clashes this season.
Pep Guardiola’s side are in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals too, where they face Real Madrid. The first leg takes place this week at the Santiago Bernabeu.
