Azcona’s statement on teammate Leo Messi showcases why he’s still the best footballer!

A recent statement by Edison Azcona on Inter Miami teammate Leo Messi has yet again displayed why the beloved superstar continues to be the best footballer.

Azcona on teammate Leo Messi:

Speaking to the FIFA website, 20 year old Inter Miami academy graduate Edison Azcona heaped praises on the veteran Messi. Speaking about his teammate Leo Messi, Azcona said, “Seeing him up close, he is even better than I thought he was. What I really admired about him was how he still practiced on his own after training.” Azcona’s words came as many also saw his teammate Leo Messi train alone as he worked on recovering from his injury in isolation.

The Heron’s midfield sensation even spoke about Messi’s competitiveness and said,  “He does not like to lose, even in training. If we were playing a small-sided game, he’s on it every time. People might think it’s all about his talent, but there’s no way you can be the best in the world without working and he showed that to me. It’s very inspirational.” Azcona’s statements send a powerful message and help us understand the strong mentality of the 8 times Ballon d’Or winner and why he continues to remain the best footballer in the world.

Leo Messi nears return from injury:

Leo Messi was last seen in action for Inter Miami in early March as he was subbed off with a minor injury against Nashville in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. Leo Messi’s absence has also left a dent in the squad of Inter Miami as the club has struggled to win without their captain. Since the World Cup winner’s injury, Miami have won only one game. However, it seems that the Herons will soon be led by the captain again as he nears return. The club seems positive of Leo’s return ahead of Inter Miami’s tie against Colorado in the MLS as the forward was seen back in training with the first team.
