Manchester United dealing with fresh Lisandro Martinez injury blow

The Red Devils have announced that defenders Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof will be out of action for almost a month. Martinez has been sidelined with a knee injury that kept him out for several months at the start of the campaign.

Latest on Lisandro Martinez injury

The duo will miss the FA Cup semi-final and all the upcoming fixtures in the month of April. The United defensive line will rely on Raphael Varane, Jonny Evans, and Harry Maguire, who are carrying their separate injury concern.

The Argentine made a return in January and managed only three games before suffering a knee injury in February which was expected to keep him out for eight weeks. He returned to action against Brentford but sustained a calf injury in training which will now keep him sidelined for another four weeks.

He has missed 31 games in total and featured only 11 times in an injury-hit second season with the Red Devils.

A United statement said: “Victor Lindelöf and Lisandro Martínez will be out of action for at least a month due to muscle injuries. Lindelöf was withdrawn during the second half of last Saturday’s Premier League game against Brentford with a hamstring problem.

“Victor was replaced by Martínez after 69 minutes, as the Argentina international made his first appearance since early February. Unfortunately, Licha has now sustained a calf strain in training and is unavailable for the next few games.”

Which players still remain injured for Manchester United?

Some players in Manchester United have raised concerns about Erik Ten Hag’s high-intensity training and can be blamed for the rising injuries in the United infirmary. The medical team’s performance has also been scrutinized after Man United suffered their 53rd separate case of injury or illness this term.

Manager Ten Hag has seen his squad decimated by several key injuries this term. Club defender Victor Lindelof sustained a hamstring injury in the second half of United’s Premier League clash against Brentford last week and will be out for more than a month.

Full-backs Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw are out for the remainder of the season which will be a major blow for Ten Hag’s top-four hopes.

The likes of Ramsus Hojlund, Harry Maguire and Mason Mount have returned to the first-team fold which will be a major boost for the Dutch manager and his players.

Anthony Martial whose contract with United expires in the summer underwent groin surgery in January and will likely not play again this campaign.
