Chelsea 1–0 Everton Player Ratings: The Blues Edge past Everton from an Early Goal

While the League winner can be settled this weekend if things go as per plan for the table topper, in the mid table, position is still up for grabs. The weekend’s action kicked-off with Chelsea hosting Everton in the Stamford Bridge in an afternoon game of 26th April, 2025. The match was end-to-end entertainment, but there was only one goal scored today and it came from Nicholas Jackson.

The game started with both teams moving the ball with the intent to get the first goal. Even playing at Stamford Bridge, Everton moved the ball confidently in Chelsea’s half, while the hosts struggled for the first 5 minutes to have control of the ball.

Things started to heat up after that and on the 13th minute Madueke made a stunning shot from outside the box with his weaker foot, but the shot was stopped by Pickford. The first goal finally comes on the 27th minute.

After Enzo’s pass to Jackson, he had enough room outside the box to make a shot. He wrapped his boot around the ball and fired a shot to make it 1-0. The game went on pretty smoothly for Chelsea since then. However, at the later stages of the first off, Everton saw more possession of the ball and went on to press more and bother the Chelsea defenders.

After the normal 45 minutes, 4 minutes were added to the game. However, the score stood 1-0 after the first half whistle. After the hour mark, we saw loads of substitutions made by both teams, with Chelsea making one and Everton making three. In the 62nd minute, Sanchez saved Chelsea from a thumping Beto shot from outside the box. After the 70th minute mark, Chelsea was warned by the referee multiple times as they were caught wasting time. Right from then, Everton started to ask some questions to the Chelsea defenders.

However, at the 73rd minute, it was Madueke who almost doubled the lead for his team. Chelsea almost doubled the lead with a Jackson rebound, but the goal was disallowed. After 90 normal minutes, 4 minutes were added to the game. After the full time, it was 1-0. Here are the Chelsea vs Everton Player Ratings.

Chelsea Player Ratings

GK- Robert Sanchez- 5/10

The only problem Sanchez caused in the first half was the problem with himself. He mishandled the ball multiple times, which would have seen Chelsea concede a goal multiple times. Thankfully, that did not happen in the first half.

LB- Merc Cucurella- 5.5/10

Merc was probably the busiest left-back of the match. From running forward to give his team the extra man while attacking and running back to intercept Everton’s movements, he was practically everywhere. It is astonishing how much ground the Spanish defender covers every match.

CB- Levi Colwill- 5.5/10

Colwill had the perfect partnership with Chalobah today. It was rather important to keep Doucoure and Beto at bay, who looked dangerous from the beginning of the game. He held a high line with Chalobah when his team was moving forward.

CB- Trevoh Chalobah- 5/10

It seems Chalobah is getting comfortable on the center back position for Chelsea slowly but steadily. Had a strong command of his defense line today and kept any dangers that came their way at bay for the first half.

RB- Moises Caicedo- 6.5/10

Maresca seemed to have the right idea with Caicedo for today’s match. Though the CDM was given RB duty for the match, he covered the blank spaces for his team exceptionally. From winning the balls out of nothing to giving his team the attacking prowess from the back, he was exceptional today.

CM- Romeo Lavia- 5/10

It is understandable why Lavia was not at his best, given that the defensive midfielder does not have the momentum in his place. Still, looking at the performance in today’s afternoon, he held himself well along with Enzo Fernandez, who bagged an assist today. He was subbed off after the hour mark.

CM- Enzo Fernandez- 5/10

It is astonishing how he can have less touches in the game and when the moment finally comes he rises to the occasion. The Argentine had the assist to Jackson’s goal, delivering a stunning pass. Moreover, he had a couple of attempts to himself from outside the box in the first half.

RM- Noni Madueke- 6/10

Madueke changed the flanks time to time with Pedro Neto today. From cutting in with the ball to making crosses from the flanks, he was instrumental in Chelsea’s attacks today. He almost broke the deadlock on 13th minute.

CAM- Cole Palmer- 6/10

While Palmer is nowhere near his great form he was last campaign, his performance today was way better than the last couple of matches. From his first touches to his deliveries, he had brought his A game to the match today. Every time he had the ball to himself, it seemed like the Englishman would make something happen.

LM- Pedro Neto- 5.5/10

Pedro has been consistent for several matches now. However, unlike the traditional LM, he switched lanes from time to time from the start of the game. Gave the Everton defenders some early troubles that would have been dangerous if they hadn’t been dealt with.

ST- Nicholas Jackson- 5.5/10

Is it the end of Jackson’s horrible form? Chelsea sure hopes so. He was the scorer on the 27th minute that gave his team an early lead. The forward has been put under scrutiny these few weeks. The goal surely has given him a boost. Hope he can pick on his form with this goal.

Sub- Reece James- 5/10

James came on in the match around the 65th minute to replace Romeo Lavia. Enzo Maresca wanted to put Caicedo in his natural position and have a natural right back in the defensive line.

Sub- Jadon Sancho- 4/10

Jadon was introduced on 77th minute by Enzo Maresca. He took the place of Noni Madueke who had been great in today’s afternoon game.

Sub- Tyrique George- 4/10

Tyrique came onto the game along with Kiernan after the normal 90 minutes. Maresca wanted to have fresh legs into the game as he took Jackson’s spot.

Sub- Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall- 4/10

Kiernan came on in the game after the normal 90 minutes. He replaced Cole Palmer. The motive from manager was to protect the lead.

Manager- Enzo Maresca- 5/10

Enzo was not on the sidelines today. However, he was happy with how his team protected the lead today.

Everton Player Ratings

Everton (Image Source: X/Everton)
Everton (Image Source: X/Everton)

GK- Jordan Pickford- 5.5/10

Even though Pickford saved Everton on multiple occasions from an early goal, there were times he almost gifted the Blues the opportunity to score. He eventually had to pay for someone else’s mistake when his team conceded the first goal.

LB- Vitaliy Mykolenko- 5/10

Mykolenko did his job as well as he could in the first half. He had his duties doubled as Madueke and Neto switched the lanes multiple times. Still, Vitaliy made sure to hold his ground and deny any promising opportunity to the wingers.

CB- Jarrad Branthwaite- 5/10

While Branthwaite had been performing well in the last few fixtures, today’s story was very different. He had a fair share of fault when his team conceded the first goal after the ball was mishandled by Beto at the center of the pitch.

CB- Jake O’Brien- 4/10

Jake had a total of 3 clearances in the first 50 minutes he played. Even though he win 2 out of his 3 ground duels, he failed to stop the shot from Jackson which was taken from outside the box. After the end of first half, he had 92% accurate pass rate.

RB- Nathan Patterson- 4.5/10

Nathan made sure of 79% passing accuracy by the end of the first half. Moreover, he won 4 out of his 6 ground duels. But the Everton right back gave away the ball multiple times, which caused his defense unnecessary troubles.

CM- James Garner- 5/10

James had a quiet game in the first half. He managed to have 88% passing accuracy by the end of the first half. Moreover, he made some stunning long balls that started counter-attacks. He was dribbled past in the deep midfield multiple times in the game.

CM- Idrissa Gueye- 4.5/10

Gueye managed 84% passing accuracy throughout the first half. While Idrissa did not shy away from any effort to win the midfield battle in today’s game, it did not quite work for him, as, after the first goal, it was Chelsea dictating the tempo of the game the majority of the time.

RM- Jack Harrison- 4.5/10

Jack had the least of the touches in the game today. And his team’s overall performance played a role as to why that is. The midfielder tried to rally up his teammates for counter attacks on multiple occasions but it did not happen for him.

CAM- Abdoulaye Doucouré- 5/10

Perhaps the only player from Everton who looked dangerous today. Doucoure found himself free in the box multiple times, but there was no delivery to him or Beto whenever they found themselves in a promising position at Chelsea’s box.

LM- Iliman Ndiaye- 4/10

Ndiaye seemed to have the most frustrating game today. He was taken off the ball multiple times. While the referee thought of those as fair challenges, the Everton winger thought otherwise, as he was seen complaining on multiple occasions. He was subbed off by Moyes at the beginning of the second half.

ST- Beto- 4/10

While the team expected him to score in the game, Beto rather gave the fans a moment of shock when he mishandled the ball and Chelsea caught him off-guard. The ball went to Enzo, who passed it to Jackson, who scored the goal from outside the box.

Sub- Carlos Alcaraz- 4/10

Carlos came in the game on 45th minute after David Moyes decided that he does not wish to waste a single minute to change the course of the game. The idea behind this substitution was to have a player to cover the blank spaces.

Sub- Ashley Young- 4/10

Young came onto the match in the 62nd minute. The Veteran was introduced to have more control of the game, which was seen after his arrival.

Sub- Dwight McNeil- 4/10

McNeil came along Young on the 62nd minute to change the fortunes of the game. Everton’s game improved rather well after the introduction of McNeil.

Sub- Youssef Chermiti- 4/10

Along with McNeil and Young, Chermiti was also introduced by Moyes in the 62nd minute. The idea was to get one goal back and build from that.

Manager- David Moyes- 4.5/10

Moyes was the unhappy manager between the two. It was more about his team’s position on the table instead of the match. He made all the right subs today.

Sportsdunia Man of the Match is Nicholas Jackson.
