Who Will Be the Referee in Real Madrid vs Arsenal Clash in the UEFA Champions League?

The encounter of Real Madrid vs Arsenal at the Santiago Bernabeu will be officiated by French referee François Letexier, marking the fifth UCL match he has overseen for Real Madrid. UEFA has announced all four referees for this week’s Champions League quarter-final second-leg fixtures.

He is familiar with Real Madrid matches, having previously refereed two victories (against Napoli and Chelsea), a draw against Manchester City in the first leg last season, and he officiated the game late last year when Liverpool defeated Carlo Ancelotti’s squad at Anfield. The match on Wednesday at the Bernabeu will be the first occasion he has officiated an Arsenal game. The 35-year-old was the fourth official in last season’s final when Real triumphed over Dortmund. Significantly, he was in charge when Spain overcame England in the 2024 Euros Final.

Real Madrid will need to put in a strong effort, as there is much discussion among Madridistas regarding another ‘remontada’ after their 3-0 defeat at the Emirates Stadium. Real Madrid’s players have been encouraging the fans to fulfill their role as the ‘12th man’ when the Londoners visit on Wednesday.

This is an essential decision because there has been considerable controversy surrounding officiating in recent Real Madrid games. The club has also been utilizing its official TV channel to apply pressure on referees by emphasizing their errors.

Kylian Mbappe will be available for this fixture, as his suspension from the red card he received against Alaves in La Liga on the weekend for a horror challenge on Antonio Blanco, will only be relevant in domestic competitions.
