The Top Three In The Latest Saudi Arabia Pro League Standings

The top three places are crucial in this league, as they help in the qualification for the AFC Champions League Elite League stage.

As things stand, Al Ittihad are the table toppers of the league. They are one of the most successful clubs in Saudi Arabia and they want to finish their campaign strong, as they currently hold a five-point lead over the second-place side, Al Hilal. Their season so far has been incredible, losing only two matches in the league so far. Their forwards have been firing, with Karim Benzema scoring sixteen goals whereas Houssem Aouar and Steven Bergwijn assisting him with ten goals each. With eight matchdays remaining, they are expected to win the league title.

Al Hilal, the defending champions of the Saudi Pro League, are not far behind but with fewer matchdays to go, they will be hoping that their rivals will drop points. Their campaign has been driven by the Brazilian Marcos Leonardo and the Serbian Aleksandar Mitrovic, scoring 17 goals and 13 goals respectively. Unfortunately, in the January transfer window, their star player Neymar Jr left the club on a free transfer. However, they did not let it affect their form and will be looking to finish the season strong.

Al Nassr, sitting in third place, are also having an impressive campaign with 54 points. While they have been consistent with their performances, drawing six games and losing four put a dent in their title charge, highlighting their lack of ruthlessness. The captain Cristiano Ronaldo has been one of their shining lights, scoring 19 goals and leading the goal-scoring charts at this age. Unfortunately, he is the only player to hit double-digit goals in his team, with Sadio Mane in second place with seven goals. While they will not be expecting to win the league, a strong finish to the campaign could see them finishing at least second.

How Does The Middle of The Saudi Pro League Table Standings Look So Far

The middle spots of the league table have various storylines of their own, highlighting missed opportunities and unfinished dreams.

Al Qadsiah are currently fourth in the table, with only a two point gap from the AFC Champions League spot. They are having a similar campaign as Al Nassr with only their no of draws and losses getting swapped. Julián Quiñones, the Mexican forward is leading their goal-scoring charts with 15 goals, with Pierre Emerick Aubameyang standing second. They will be giving it their all to make sure that they get continental football next season.

Al Ahli are behind Al Qadsiah, with only a five-point gap from the AFC Champions League spot. While they showed their strength in many games, their inconsistency, especially in big games has cost them. English forward Ivan Toney is their top scorer with 17 goals. Unfortunately, he has not gotten a lot of support, especially from veteran players like Roberto Firmino and Riyad Mahrez, who are on five goals each respectively.

Al Shabab are having a similar campaign like Al Ahli, but an eight point gap at this stage of the tournament will be hard to overturn. Abderrazak Hamdallah is having one of his best seasons for them, currently on a 17 goal campaign.

Al-Taawoun, Al-Ettifaq, and Al-Riyadh follow them, with all of these sides struggling to put up a decent campaign. With a lack of consistent goal-scorers and leaky defenses, they will just go through the motions and try to end their season on a higher note.

The Relegation Battle

The relegation battle is always a mixture of ecstasy and agony, with fans more emotionally involved in hoping to stay in the top division. The bottom three teams of the Saudi Pro League are relegated to the FD League.

Al-Fayha and Al-Orobah are tied on 26 points and stand in 13th and 14th places respectively. Their lack of goals because of impotent attacks and leaky backlines have made it hard to gain a foothold. Al-Okhdood are very close to the relegation spots, accumulating only 23 points. They are on the verge of a relegation spot and are only above those spots because of a slightly better goal difference. Al Fateh are tied on points with Al-Okhdood and will be hoping to go above them by the time the season comes to an end.

Al Wehda and Al Raed are the bottom two sides with 20 and 18 points each. The top-flight football for next season could be clinched, if they manage to put up a fight in the remaining games. But, considering their current form, it could be very hard for them.
