Carlo Ancelotti speaks on Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao’s return

After FC Barcelona won LaLiga last season and beat Real Madrid to it, the historic club of Madrid had to come back strong this campaign. However, early into the campaign, Los Blancos were dealt a massive blow as goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and key defender Eder Militao sustained ACL injuries in a span of three days. The injuries meant that both had to spend a significant portion of the season on the sidelines. This further dented Real Madrid’s aspirations of winning the Spanish league and achieving other continental objectives. However, Los Blancos find themselves in a commanding position in all competitions and will also recover their stars in defense soon.

Speaking to the media ahead of Real Madrid’s tie against Celta Vigo in LaLiga over the weekend, gaffer Carlo Ancelotti spoke on the potential return of Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao from injury. Ancelotti told the media, “Courtois and Militão will be back after the international break”. The international break will be towards the end of March. Now it seems that Militao and Courtois will return in time for the crucial El Clasico next month against FC Barcelona in Laliga.

A massive step forward towards winning LaLiga

The injury update will certainly boost the hopes of Real Madrid who are closing in on winning the LaLiga title. With the return of Thibaut Courtois and Eder Militao, the club will also look to progress to the final stages of the UEFA Champions League.

Currently, Real Madrid have been playing a makeshift defense and have at times struggled to keep the opposition at bay. With the return of Eder Militao, the backline will have a leader and more calmness in dealing with the opposition. Real Madrid are currently five points clear at the top with Barcelona trailing in LaLiga. In the business end of the season, the return of Courtois and Militao could take them further clear of the reigning champions from Catalonia.
