They were all around Rajasthan Royals in the first high-scoring game of the season. At the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad 528 runs were scored in the game. It also saw the season’s first century from Ishan Kishan. The Orange Army is one of the favourites to win this season’s IPL.

Sunrisers Hyderabad after being invited to bat first were off to a flying start with openers David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha, they crossed the 70 runs mark in the powerplay. The Southpaw was the aggressor and played a knock of 81 runs off 56 balls giving the start the side needed. Later on, some small and quick innings from the other batters helped them to post 212/6.
Coming out to chase the target the Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) lost Chris Gayle early, KL Rahul’s 79 of 56 could not be enough for his side as he got no support from the other ends. The wickets kept on falling at regular intervals and they could only get to the score of 167/8 and lost the match by 45 runs. Warner was named the man of the match for his innings.

9. SRH vs PBKS| SRH 215/6 vs PBKS|2024

Punjab Kings after winning the toss elected to bat first and they were off to a blazing start, as openers Prabhsimran Singh and Atharva Taide were scoring all over the park. They were 97 in just 9 overs. The former played a knock of 71 runs off just 45 deliveries. With two fiery knocks from Rilee Russouw and Jitesh Sharma helped them to score 214.
Sunrisers had other ideas while chasing, despite losing Travis Head early, Abhishek Sharma took charge for the chase and scored quick runs. The opener scored 68 off 33 balls and laid the foundation for the chase alongside Rahul Tripathi who scored 33 off 18. Heinrich Klassen did the rest of the job by scoring 42 off 26 and helped them chase down the target of 215 with five balls left.

8. SRH vs RR| SRH 217/6 vs RR|2023

Rajasthan Royals after batting first scored 214/2, with Jos Buttler missing out on a century, the former England captain scored 95 runs and a Sanju Samson special of 66 runs off 38 balls helped them to post such a massive target at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium, Jaipur. Also, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 35 off 18 deliveries which gave the side the start.
SRH was off to a good start Abhishek Sharma and Rahul Tripathi once again laid the foundation for the run chase. The former scored 55 runs and Tripathi was back in the pavilion after scoring 47 off 29 balls. Sunrisers Hyderabad was invited to bat first. They had a 107-run partnership for the opening stand between David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha. The captain scored 66 runs and the former India wicket-keeper batter played a sensational knock of 87 runs giving them the momentum to score past 200 runs. They finished off with a score of 219/2.
Delhi Capitals while chasing lost wickets at regular intervals and only one of their batter could get past the score of 30 runs and all the other batters failed due to the pressure of a huge target. Rishabh Pant scored 36 runs and 7 of their batters were back in the pavilion in single-digit score. They were bowled out for the score of 131 runs and were handed an 88-run defeat. The Orange Army while batting first on a fast and bouncy Eden wicket were off to a flying start. Harry Brook was the batter who destroyed the Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) bowling attack. The English batter scored 100 off 55 balls and helped Hyderabad post a massive total of 228/4. He was unbeaten till the end of the innings.
While chasing the Knights lost were struggling for 20/2 and Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh helped them to keep the side in the chase. However, they fell short by 23 runs. Rana played a captain’s knock of 75 off 41 balls and Rinku scored 58 off 31 deliveries as KKR could only go till the score of 205/7 in their 20 overs. Sunrisers were invited to bat first by Virat Kohli and that turned out to be the worst possible decision for him. SRH openers David Warner and Jonny Bairstow were all over the RCB pacers. Both batters scored a hundred respectively. Warner was unbeaten at the score of 100 off 55 balls and Bairstow scored 114 with the Orange Army posting 231/2.
In reply, RCB was never in the game, they kept on losing wickets and only one batter could cross the 30-run mark, rest 7 batters were back in the pavilion in single digits as the runs pressure kept piling on the side. SRH achieved a first in T20 powerplay history during the match. Head and Abhishek reached an astonishing score of 125 without losing a wicket during six overs. The score of 300 appeared frighteningly possible during that period. The field restrictions allowed Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel to ground Sunrisers Hyderabad’s match back into reality. The team advanced past 260 runs thanks to Shahbaz Ahmed who remained unbeaten while scoring 59 off 29 deliveries.
While chasing the Delhi Capitals were also off to a flying start as they scored 100 runs in 6 overs. But the side kept on losing wickets and they were never looking comfortable while chasing the mammoth target of 261 runs. The carnage in Hyderabad meant that an 11-year IPL record was eclipsed, as RCB’s seemingly out-of-reach 263 for 5 from 2013 has now been consigned to the history books, thanks to a remarkable team effort from the SRH batters. Klaasen was the ringleader with 80 not out of 34, while Head and Abhishek Sharma smashed half-centuries.
But Mumbai Indians were also not short of scoring runs. The five-time champions were also firing from the very first ball, of their innings and scored 150 in just 10 overs. The big question going into IPL 2025 was whether the first 300+ score would happen, with SRH, the favourites, coming close but ultimately 14 runs short. The top five took just 118 balls, with none below 200, and Ishan Kishan added to the excitement and chaos with his first IPL ton, on his debut with SRH. At one stage it was looking 300 was possible but they fell short after the Rajasthan bowlers kept a little tight.

At the Chinnaswamy Stadium, the boundaries rained down as SRH redefined T20 torture, setting their record for the season with 287 for 3. Travis Head led the way with a career-best 102 off 41 balls, Heinrich Klaasen with 67 off 31, and Abdul Samad finished not out with 37 off 10 balls. This was one-way traffic at Bengaluru on this day and the bowlers had a nightmare. This match saw 549 runs being scored in two innings of a T20 game.
Chasing a target of 287 runs RCB were off to a flyer as they scored 80 runs in just 6 overs. But in the middle overs, they lost two quick wickets shifting the momentum to SRH’s favour. Dinesh Karthik’s 83 off 35 balls went in vain as the wicket-keeper batter did not get any support from the other middle-order batters.
