The Gujarat Titans (GT) made their grand entry into the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2022, and the rest is history. In the very first season, under the leadership of Hardik Pandya, GT went on to lift the trophy.

History
Back in 2021, when the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the inclusion of two teams in the tournament, there was a total of 22 companies who played their bids for the franchises. However, the base price for the two teams was quite high. That is the reason why only six companies showed full interest in the offer.
So, BCCI asked them to put a price individually or in a consortium of three companies. CVC Capitals Partners bought the team for INR 5,625 crores in 2021. However, in 2025, Torrent Group have the majority stakes in the team. CVC Capitals sold 67% stakes to the Torrent Group ahead of the IPL 2025.
