Inter Miami vs Charlotte FC Player Ratings – Inter Miami get the job done despite being a man down
Inter Miami continue their unbeaten streak after securing a narrow 1-0 win over Charlotte FC, thanks to the solo goal from Allende. This result has put Inter Miami at seven points, taking them to second place as of now. It is a disappointing result for Charlotte, who remain sixth after winning, drawing and losing once so far this season.
The wait continued for Inter Miami fans as Lionel Messi did not make the starting eleven for this game too, but has made the bench. Mascherano made only a single change while Charlotte’s manager, ex-Aston Villa man Dean Smith made no changes.
The match got off to a slow start as Inter Miami looked a bit cautious than usual. Miami saw more possession, but failed to create many clear-cut chances. Charlotte looked bright, especially when Wilfred Zaha was holding the possession. The match took a big turn 38 minutes in though, as the Miami’s goal-keeper Ustari got sent off for coming well off his line and clipping an onrushing Zaha outside the box to deny a clear goalscoring opportunity, leaving the hosts to play with a man down for the remainder of the game.
Inter Miami drew first blood immediately into the start of the second half, after Luis Suarez played a beautiful pass over the top for Allende, who controlled it well to slide it into the bottom corner. Despite Ustari’s sending off, Mascherano’s side responded very well in the second half with a very astute defensive performance.
While Charlotte came close on multiple occasions, Inter Miami held their nerve and defended with ease. Both sides made substitutions to ensure a positive result for their team but Charlotte unfortunately did not end up capitalising on the situation, leaving the hosts victorious. With a red card sending off, Mascherano decided to not use Lionel Messi but put defensive reinforcements to secure the win.
