2026 FIFA World Cup final to have Super Bowl type half-time show
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed that the 2026 men’s World Cup final hosted in the United States will include a halftime show for the first time in its history. The 2026 FIFA World Cup is set to take place in the USA, Mexico and Canada as joint hosts with the final set to be hosted at Metlife Stadium in New Jersey on July 19, 2026.
This will be a trendsetter in the history of FIFA and Gianni Infantino has confirmed that they are working with British music group Coldplay to help produce the halftime show and list out artists.
This trend is quite famous in the Super Bowl and the most recent example was Kendrick Lamar’s performance one of the most famous ones was in 2016 which was the performance of Bruno Mars and Beyonce alongside Coldplay.
Gianni Infantino made it clear that Coldplay will not be performing but only guiding them to list out artists. The main issue here is that the official rules dictate that the halftime break in football matches is only 15 minutes. As of now, there is no clarity regarding whether the halftime will be extended or not.
Although FIFA World Cups have never had halftime shows before, musical acts have always been a very big thing. Shakira’s performance and music for the 2014 FIFA World Cup is arguably the best and most liked performance by football fans. On the very opposite end, Camilla Cabello was flushed out by Real Madrid and Liverpool fans at the 2022 UCL final. This is quite obvious since finals hold much importance and is the deciding factor, the last match to determine who wins the tournament. In such a state, fans often delve into their particular team and do not respond well to musical acts.
