La Liga Investigating New Claims of Racial Abuse Towards Vinicius Junior

Fresh allegations of racial abuse directed at Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior have prompted La Liga to launch an investigation, reports reveal.

During Real Madrid’s recent 2-2 draw with Valencia at Mestalla, the 23-year-old Brazilian forward was reportedly subjected to racist insults from a child in attendance.

Women Records Video of Racial Abuse on Vinicius Junior

A video circulating on social media captured the child, sitting on an adult’s lap, shouting the derogatory term ‘mono,’ which translates to ‘monkey’ in English.

The incident sparked immediate concern, with the person filming the incident being confronted by the child’s guardian. Following the match, the woman who recorded the video spoke with ESPN Brasil, confirming that the police had been called to intervene.

This latest incident comes just 10 months after Vinicius Junior faced racial abuse during a previous encounter with Valencia. Last season, he alerted the referee to racist chanting from Valencia supporters, resulting in the identification and banning of three individuals from the stadium.

La Liga Initiates Investigation

In response to the recent incident, La Liga has initiated an investigation. The league’s action underscores the ongoing efforts to combat racism in football, particularly following previous sanctions imposed on Valencia for similar offences.

Despite the disturbing incident, Vinicius Junior showcased resilience on the pitch, scoring two crucial goals to salvage a draw for Real Madrid. However, the match was marred by controversy, with a contentious decision by the referee leading to protests from the Real Madrid players.

Real Madrid and manager Carlo Ancelotti criticized the referee’s decision, which denied them a late victory. Nevertheless, the draw helped Real Madrid maintain their lead at the top of the La Liga table.

As the investigation unfolds, the football world awaits decisive action from La Liga to address racial discrimination and uphold the integrity of the sport.
