Al Riyadh vs Al Hilal Preview:

As the business end of the campaign approaches, matches come hard and fast. In match week 23, 14th-placed Al Riyadh are all set to take on table toppers Al Hilal. Al Riyadh are in the midst of an impressive first season back in the Saudi Pro League. Promoted from Division 1 at the end of last season, Al Riyadh seem on course to retain their spot in the top league. Recently the club has struggled to put in good performances consistently, but a 1-2 win against Al Akhdoud in their latest outing might’ve elevated their spirits.

Al Riyadh’s rivals on the night will be Al Hilal. The Riyadh-based club have enjoyed a fantastic season and have been a force to reckon with in Saudi Arabia. Under the tutelage of Jorge Jesus, the club has gone on an unbeaten streak in the league, winning 20 games in the league and drawing only two. Al Hilal is unbeaten in other competitions as well. Talk about dominance! As Al Hilal looks to win the league while breaking numerous league records, a win against Al Riyadh could only push them further away from chasing Al Nassr in 2nd place.

Brazilian gaffer Odair Hellmann has done a good job since his take over at Al Riyadh. Despite facing tough opposition, Al Riyadh has managed to win 3 and draw 3 under the coach. Against Al Akhdood, the squad looked fluid and fought until the end to secure a victory.

Al Riyadh will enter the match against table toppers Al Hilal with no injuries. While striker Andre Gray went off the pitch with an injury last week, his recovery seems to have progressed well. He is likely to be back in the squad and even start. Apart from Gray’s injury, Al Riyadh will host Al Hilal with a stacked squad.

Al Hilal:

Al Hilal’s steller summer transfer window at the start of the season has clearly borne fruits. The Riyadh based club is a whopping 27 match unbeaten streak and they don’t seem to be slowing down. With their aspirations of finishing the season with multiple trophies, this form ought to give them the desired boost.

Al Hilal will visit Prince Faisal bin Fahd Stadium with a small injury list. Left back Mohammed Al Burayk sustained a muscle injury on 18th February and is unlikely to return for the game. He has been impressive in the league till now, assisting 4 times and scoring once. Al Hilal rue the absence of center back Hassan Tambakti who suffered a foot injury last week. While Al Hilal haven’t offered a timeline for the center-back’s return, it is unlikely that he will travel with the squad for the tie against Al Riyadh.

Superstar Neymar Jr. remains on the sideline as he recovers from his ACL injury. To the dismay of fans Neymar suffered the injury very early in the season. He has been ruled out for the season and won’t return anytime soon.

Al Riyadh and Al Hilal faced off for the first time in the Saudi Pro League earlier this season. The game was played at Al Hilal’s home ground where the table toppers absolutely demolished Al Riyadh. Salem Al-Dawsari’s club put six goals past the Al Riyadh goalkeeper for the game to end in an embarrassing 6-1 for Al Riyadh. Al Riyadh will hope to foresee a better scoreline this time around.

Last result:

  • Al Hilal 6-1 Al Riyadh:- Saudi Pro League – 15 September, 2023

Al Riyadh vs Al Hilal Prediction:

Al Hilal are on a destruction drive of anything and everything in its way. The latest victims were last year’s Saudi Pro League winners, Al Ittihad. Karim Benzema’s club fell to a 3-1 defeat as Al Hilal glided past them. Al Riyadh are not a club that will fancy its chances against these monsters. On paper, Al Hilal are way too strong for Al Riyadh.

Predicted Score: Al Riyadh 0-3 Al Hilal
