What Happened to Mohammed Shami in India vs Pakistan 2025? Latest Injury Update

The most anticipated India vs Pakistan game in the Champions Trophy 2025 has begun at the Dubai International Stadium, Dubai. Pakistan captain Mohammad Rizwan won the toss and decided to bat first. The decision looked fine at the start when openers Babar Azam and Imam-ul-Haq made a stunning partnership, hitting boundaries against India’s bowlers.

Mohammed Shami Injury Update

However, in between the innings, India’s star bowler, Mohammed Shami, left the field due to discomfort in the knee.  In the fifth over of the game, he was bowling brilliantly, threatening the batters. But after the fourth ball, the physio came in to check the bowler’s knees as he looked a bit uncomfortable.

The bowler, who recently recovered from knee injury, later left the field after completing his over. At that time, Harshit Rana was bowling from the other end. Shami’s bowling wasn’t great in the first over when he bowled five wides. However, he managed to surprise the batters in the next over. The bowler created many chances as well to dismiss Babar Azam, but failed.

Then came in Hardik Pandya, and dismissed Babar in his second over. There was no movement in the ball as Pandya bowled the length delivery and tried to keep it outside off. The confused batter tried to hit the ball but it edged and went back to the wicket-keeper. That was the first breakthrough for India. Post that, Imam was run-out by Axar Patel, who made a direct hit onto the stumps.

Will Mohammed Shami play the rest of Champions Trophy 2025?

Now, the real question which arises is will Mohammed Shami play in the rest of the Champions Trophy? Team India will be in huge trouble with Shami because Jasprit Bumrah isn’t there and the selectors dropped Mohammed Siraj from the squad.

Their next best option is Arshdeep Singh, who has relatively lesser experience that Siraj. While there are no official confirmation on Mohammed Shami injury yet, he hasn’t returned to the field ever since. If he fails to play in the ongoing game, it will be a real concern for the Men in Blue.
