RCB Edge Past DC as Mandhana’s Masterclass Seals the Win

Smriti Mandhana’s masterclass has propelled Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) to their second consecutive win in WPL 2025. RCB won against Delhi Capitals (DC) in a thrilling encounter, successfully chasing down a target of 142 with three balls to spare. While DC struggled to put up a challenging total, RCB’s top order ensured they got the job done in style.

Batting first, Delhi Capitals could only muster 141 runs before getting all out at 19.3 overs. RCB’s disciplined bowling attack contained the DC batters by getting rid of heavy hitters Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma early in the game. DC’s batters found it tough to settle at the crease, with Renuka Singh leading the charge for RCB.

The right-arm pacer was exceptional, picking up three wickets at an outstanding economy rate of just 5.80. Amidst the struggles, Jemimah Rodrigues was the lone bright spot for DC, playing an impressive knock of 34 off 22 balls. However, with little support from the rest of the batting lineup, DC failed to gain momentum and ended with a below-par score.

RCB began the chase with intent, as skipper Smriti Mandhana came out all guns blazing. She played a captain’s knock, smashing 81 off just 47 balls, ensuring RCB stayed ahead of the required rate. English batter Daniel Wyatt-Hodge played the perfect supporting role, adding 42 runs to the cause. Their partnership took the game away from DC, as the bowlers struggled to break through.

However, with a few quick wickets towards the end, the match saw a late twist. But Richa Ghosh and Ellyse Perry ensured there were no last-minute jitters, calmly finishing off the chase as RCB won the match by 8 wickets.

RCB’s dominant performance, both with the ball and the bat, ensured they walked away with a crucial win. Renuka’s disciplined spell set the tone, while Mandhana’s masterclass sealed the deal. With this victory, RCB gained valuable points and continued their winning streak in WPL 2025.
