Inter Miami Player Ratings 2–2 Orlando City: Lionel Messi’s Side Ends Pre-Season Undefeated After a Stoppage Time Goal From Picault

The final pre-season friendly game between Orlando City and Inter Miami ended as a 2-2 draw at the Raymond James Stadium on Friday. A stoppage-time goal from Fafa Picault helped the Herons stay undefeated in the preparation phase of the campaign. Orlando City’s attacking midfielder Martin Ojeda had a good game scoring one and assisting one.

The match started with a decent intensity as both sides were looking to have a mark. Around the 6th minute, a goal was nearly scored by Inter Miami’s corner kick from a close cross, but Cesar Araujo stopped it. Suárez was upset because he had the opportunity to score first. Just two minutes later, Messi nearly scores the opening goal, but Leo is stopped from completing by captain Jansson.

In the fifteenth minute of the game, Orlando City had their first chance of the game and found the back of the net. Martin Ojeda scored the opening goal of the evening after rallying from the previous play. He scores the goal after a terrible defensive outburst from Oscar Ustari. Just seven minutes later, Tadeo Allende levels the scoring after a quick one-two from former Atletico Madrid striker Luis Suarez. In the 39th minute, Ustari threw it to the corner following a fantastic strike by Pasalic, and Orlando came very close to making it 2-1.

The first half ended with Inter Miami dominating the major part of the possession and recording eight shots, out of which three were on target. Inter Miami looked more calm on the ball as compared to their opposition and was very much fluid with the positioning of the players.

Five minutes into the second half, the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner was close to scoring his first goal of the night with a left footed shot from a free kick outside the box. Orlando made the score line 2-1 from a free kick after a bad foul was committed by Busquets around the 52nd minute. Ramiro Enrique found the back of the net from the centre of the box after an assist from Martin Ojeda. Around the 67th minute Messi looked for the equaliser but his header was stopped by the opposition goalkeeper Gallese. This event led to a fight between the players as Messi brought down a player during the process.

The stadium gave a standing ovation for Lionel Messi, as the best in the world is being subbed off to bring on Santiago Morales. A huge round of applause was also seen as Luis Suarez also left the pitch around the 75th minute. In the 83rd minute, Orlando had their lead secured with a third goal but Gustavo Carballo’s shot from the centre of the box was well saved by Ustari. In the stoppage time, Inter Miami levels the game after Robert Taylor’s shot was blocked and Fafa Picault netted it on the rebound to keep the Mascherano’s side undefeated in the pre-season fixtures.

GK- Oscar Ustari- 6.3/10

The Argentine goalkeeper had a fair game between the sticks making crucial saves for his side. He conceded two goal and made two saves during the 90 minute.

LB- Jordi Alba- 7.1/10

The Spanish left-back had a good game contributing both in attack as well as defence. He completed the most passes in the game and created the most number of chances for the Herons. He was involved in just three defensive actions and won couple of duels in the game.

CB- Hector Martinez- 5.3/10

Did not have a great game despite being calm on the ball. He lost the most number of duels in the game and made an error that led to a goal from Orlando City. He was involved in six defensive actions for Inter Miami.

CB- Lujan- 5.8/10

The Centre-back had a good game and was decent on the ball. He managed the opposition defence well as compared to his fellow centre-back.

RB- Marcelo Weigandt- 6.0/10

The Argentine right back had an average game but was good with his passing. He made six passes into the final third and was involved in four defensive actions.

CM- Sergi Busquets- 7.0/10

The Central midfielder had a fair game maintaining a passing accuracy of 90 percent. He orchestrated the game well and dominated the proceedings at the centre of the park. Busquets was involved in five defensive actions in the game.

CM- Telasco Segovia- 6.5/10

The Venezuelan midfielder had a decent game with a passing accuracy of 93 percent. He was calm on the ball as he handled the play ahead of the final third. He had one shot on goal and won couple of duels in the game.

CM- Yannick Bright- 7.2/10

The Italian midfielder had a good game maintaining a passing accuracy of 93 percent. He managed the right side of the midfield well as he was involved in eight defensive actions and made four recoveries for his team. He also won five duels for Inter-Miami

LW- Tadeo Allende- 8.1/10

The 25-year-old Argentine player had a good game registering three shots on goal for his team. He maintained pressure from the left side of the wing and also scored a goal. His run and a brilliant one-two from the right side of the penalty box was brilliant which led to the goal.

ST- Luis Suarez- 7.9/10

The Uruguayan striker had a good game at the final third recording three shots on goal for Inter Miami. He assisted a goal for Allende with a quick one-two at the tip of the penalty area.

RW- Lionel Messi- 6.8/10

The Argentine striker had a decent game taking four shots on goal. He missed a lot of passes today and was well kept in check by the Orlando City players. He completed the most number of dribbles in the game and made around eight passes into the final third.

SUB- Noah Allen- 6.5/10

He came on to replace defender Martinez around the 58th minute of the game.

SUB- Fabrice Picault- 7.5/10

He was brought on to replace the midfielder Telasco Segovia. He scored the goal for Inter Miami in the last moments to level the game.

The centre-back was brought in to replace Gonzalo Lujan around the 64th minute.

The 22-year-old Argentine midfielder was brought on to replace Sergi Busquets.

He managed the game very well as his 4-3-3 tactics with attacking full-backs worked well like all the other pre-season games to keep them undefeated in all the games.
