Captain Harmanpreet Kaur will yet again lead the Mumbai Indians Women having done so in both the previous seasons. If you compare the squad of when MI won the inaugural title in 2023 and the roster of players they have available for the 2025 season, you will find that there is not a lot of difference with them having retained a majority of their core. Along with a strong foreign contingent made up of the likes of Hayley Matthews, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Amelia Kerr, and Shabnam Ismail among others, they have arguably the best set of all-rounders among all the teams.

Domestic talent like Yastika Bhatia, Amanjot Kaur, S Sajana, Saika Ishaque, and some other youngsters form a good pool of local talent who have exposure at the international level as well and have done well for the franchise previously. However, the big setback for them is their star all-rounder Pooja Vastrakar being ruled of the tournament with an injury for they have called up left-arm spinner Parunika Sisodia, a recent U-19 Women’s World Cup winner who will in the set up along with her teammate G Kamalini, who was acquired by them at the mini-auction.

On the other side of the table are the two-time finalist Delhi Capitals who have failed at the final hurdle in both the previous seasons having topped the table in the league phases. Once again, they have arrived at the tournament with all bases covered and no gaping holes in their squad which looks like a championship-winning side.

They have assembled a similar squad in the previous two editions as well but their problem has been the final step which they would be looking to take this time. Led by arguably the best batter and captain to have played the Women’s game, Meg Lanning, the Capitals’ strength lies in the fact that they, like their opponents, are pretty much the same side from the previous two seasons.

International stars like Marizanne Kapp, Jess Jonassen, Annabel Sutherland and Alice Capsey make their side powerful giving them the experience while the Indian talent in Jemimah Rodrigues, Shafali Verma, Arundhati Reddy, and Radha Yadav have been proven performers. They brought Scottish keeper-batter Sarah Bryce in the mini-auction whom they can use as a fifth overseas option, if needed, since she is an associate player taking advantage of the rule just like they did in the first season with USA’s Tara Norris.

High-scoring venue

The pitch at the Kotambi Stadium in Vadodara usually favors the batters with some even bounce that allows the batters to play their shots. While there has not been enough Women’s T20 cricket played at the venue, the recent ODI series between India Women and West Indies Women was held here and the pitch was a paradise to bat on and Indian Women piled up heaps of runs.

As the game goes along. the spinners may come into play if there is no dew but if the dew falls it will make batting easier in the second innings tempting captains to win the toss to bowl first.

MI-W vs DC-W Toss Prediction: MI to win and bowl first

Kotmabi Stadium typically favors the chasing side with the pitch remaining good for batting throughout the duration of 40 overs, it may even get slightly better in the second innings if there is any dew that falls making the ball come onto the bat even better.

MI Women also have a good record chasing and would like to do so if they win the coin toss. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals might also want to have a bowl first since this is a ground which will favor the chasing team in the night and DC also boasts of a good record chasing totals.

MI-W vs DC-W Women Score Prediction:

Considering the average first innings score of 150 in the few Women’s T20 matches at the Kotambi Stadium and the fact that both these teams have many high-quality international batters in their line-ups, a first innings score of 160-165 could be expected.
