“In my heart I knew…”: Antony thrilled after scoring in Real Betis victory
Antony was seen in a happy and jovial mood after scoring for his current club Real Betis in their Europa Conference League win at Gent. Betis defeated the Belgian side 3-0 in the first leg, with Antony, Cedric Bakambu, and Sergi Altimira putting their name on the score sheet. Antony scored his second goal for the club as he hit a superb striker from the outside of the area to give his team a lead around the 47th minute of the game.
The Brazilian winger, who is on loan from Manchester United after the match said, “I’m very happy, more for the game than for the goal. The most important thing is that we won. I’m very happy to score a goal, the energy is very good and now I have to work so that the return match is also good.” He added, “Being happy is the most important thing for me, my family, and me, if you are happy things flow naturally.”
Antony’s fellow teammate, Giovanni Lo Celso also praised the Brazilian’s goal. He said, ” We knew that Antony is a great player, with a lot of quality, who could help us a lot and he is having a great performance.” Earlier in the game against Celta Vigo, Antony also found the net.

After spending 86 million pounds to join Manchester United in the summer of 2022, Antony went on to score 12 goals and dish out five assists in 96 games. He started brilliantly under Erik Ten Hag but things went downhill as he failed to live up to his transfer fee. As per media reports, United is covering a minimum of 84 percent of his salary during his loan spell at Real Betis.
The Brazillian has shown his class after coming to Betis. He concluded, “I was very prepared when the opportunity to come to Betis arose. I had a hard time with my head. In my heart, I was 100 percent sure that I would be happy here.”
