“Honor to be part of the journey” Neymar Jr hails Ex-Real Madrid Icon’s career

One of the most decorated left-backs in history, Marcelo Viera recently announced his retirement at the age of 36, concluding his remarkable trophy-laden career on Thursday. The former Real Madrid defender said,” My story as a player ends here but I still have much to give to football” in an emotional retirement video clip while revealing his decision to the fans on social media.

Neymar Jr who recently made his spectacular return to Santos FC after terminating his contract with the Saudi Pro League giants showered praise on his former Brazil team-mate and friend Marcelo on his illustrious career penning down a heartfelt note.

“Congratulations on your career, my friend @marcelotwelve”, Neymar wrote on his social media, “It has been an honor to be part of the journey of one of the best left-backs in history! Thank goodness he is Brazilian.”

Glancing over Marcelo’s Iconic Career

The Brazilian has etched an unparallel legacy with his trophy-laden playing career throughout his two-decade-long professional career having played for two of the biggest clubs in their respective massland with Fluminese and Real Madrid.

Marcelo won five UEFA Champions League titles, Six Spanish league titles and more while racking up 546 appearances netting 38 goals and providing an incredible 103 assists for Los Blancos in his 16 seasons in the Spanish Captial has been the major highlight of his career.

Additionally, he earned 58 International caps for Seleção Canarinho and made 17 goal contributions, while representing his country in two FIFA World Cups and Copa America respectively.
