AS Roma 2-0 Eintracht Frankfurt: Player Ratings as Angelino Shines and Dovbyk Struggles

AS Roma have managed to make it to the knockout stages after a 2-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt. They controlled the game from start to end and did not let their opponents get any chance of scoring a goal today.

Angelino dominated the left flank for Roma and scored right at halftime to give his side the much-needed lead. His shot was saved by Trapp but the ball was deflected into his own net by Tuta.

Shomurodov fumbled his effort initially but did well to get the second goal of the match in the 70th minute and seal the win.

Mile Svilar – 7: Did not have a lot to do today as his side were in control of the game. Made a brilliant recovery save at the start of the second half and that was about it.

Defenders

Gianluca Mancini – 7.5: The Italian’s main role today was to keep possession and nothing more. He got an assist as well and that sealed the match for them.

Mats Hummels – 7: He rolled back years and put in another solid display at the back. Never looked out of position and hardly put a foot wrong.

Evan Ndicka – 7: Another solid performance and he was ready to charge forward when needed. There was very little he could do when he went up, but luckily, he is a good defender.

Midfielders

Alexis Saelemaekers – 7: He got booked early in the match and was hooked off after the hour mark. He managed to control possession on the right flank.

Leandro Paredes – 7.5: He sat at the half line and controlled the possession for his team. He was keeping the ball rolling and never broke a sweat today.

Manu Kone – 7: He too was doing the same as Paredes today but a little more advanced than the Argentine. Did not charge forward even when there were chances and stuck to his role.

Angelino – 8.5: He was the man of the match today even if the goal is not credited to him. He will argue that his shot was on target, but it could go down as an own goal.

Forward

Paulo Dybala – 8: The Argentine was on top of his game today and was the creator in the team. However, he was making silly mistakes every time he had two options in front of him.

Lorenzo Pellegrini – 6.5: Not his game today as he could not do much on the pitch. A spectator most of the time and hardly got involved in attacks.

Artem Dovbyk – 6: Arguably the worst player on the pitch. He was desperate to make runs in behind but was making the move a bit too early.

Substitutes

Bryan Cristante – 6.5

Matías Soulé – 7

Eldor Shomurodov – 7.5

Zeki Çelik – 6

Niccolò Pisilli – 6

Manager

Kevin Trapp – 8: He stuck with his system and the players did everything he wanted from them.

Tuta – 6.5: He did well to handle Dovbyk and was on the ball a lot today. hardly put a foot wrong and managed to keep the Roma attackers away from the goal.

Robin Koch – 6.5: The former Leeds United man did well in defense and was also closing down Dovbyk every time he was close to getting on the ball. He looked calm and composed on the ball.

Arthur Theate – 7.5: He was Frankfurt’s best player at both ends of the pitch. He was looking to get on the scoresheet while also tracking back to stop attacks from Roma.

Midfielders

Ansgar Knauff – 6.5: He was all over the pitch but there was nothing much he could do. Hardly got on the ball and was taken off right after the hour mark.

Jean-Matteo Bahoya – 7: He was up and down both flanks when needed but never managed to get close to the box. Failed to get a shot away and was taken off after the hour mark.

Forward

Hugo Ekitike – 6: He was chasing the ball full-time and never managed to come close to scoring. He too failed to get a single shot away today.

Fares Chaibi – 6.5: He too was unable to do anything in attack and had to take a shot from miles out today. Did not trouble the goalkeeper and was just chasing the ball all the time.
