FCSB 0-2 Manchester United Player Ratings – Mainoo Shines as MVP in Bucharest as the Red Devils Secure Direct Qualification to the Round of 16

Manchester United comfortably win against Bucharest away from home, thanks to goals from Dalot and Mainoo. This result puts them in the top 8 of the table and are qualified directly to the Round of 16, avoiding two extra games of knockout playoffs.

Amorim put out a rotated side against Bucharest, with backup keeper Bayindir between the sticks. While they did well to keep the possession, they struggled to make an advantage out of it. Apart from Mainoo and Eriksen creating half-chances, there was not a lot to the game. But, on the other hand, one of the best chances of the first half was at the other end, as Mihai Popescu volleyed fractionally wide. Both the teams went into the dressing room, motivated to keep their places in the top 8.

Both teams have made half-time substitutions. Man Utd have brought on Alejandro Garnacho and Amad Diallo for Toby Collyer and Tyrell Malacia. FCSB have replaced Malcom Edjouma with Baba Alhassan. The changes worked as the visitors looked more sharp and dynamic in the second half. The deadlock was finally broken when Dalot scores from the clever, low cross from Mainoo. While the hosts almost tried to equalise and fell just short when their effort hit the underside of the bar, Manchester United quickly doubled the lead as Mainoo was involved again, this time putting the finishing touch, assisted by Garnacho.

Goalkeeper

Tarnovanu: 7/10 – While he did not end up with a clean sheet, he made some excellent saves tonight and kept the match competitive.

Defenders

Popescu: 7/10 – He got one of the best chances of the match, as he volleyed wide from close range at an early free-kick.

Ngezana: 6/10 – He defended solidly but struggled against the visitors’ passing and movement. While he intercepted some crosses, he lacked composure in some crucial moments.

Dawa: 6/10 – While he had some good defensive moments, including winning aerial duels, he was ultimately the part of the losing side.

Radunovic: 6.5/10 – A bright spark for the team at wingback, contributing effectively across both the ends.

Cretu: 5.5/10 – He struggled to create the same kind of impact as his counterpart and got subbed off as a part of tactical change.

Midfielders

Edjouna: 5/10 – The midfielder failed to make any sort of impact and got hooked at the stroke of half-time, sadly representing the team for only 45 minutes.

Sut: 6/10 – He did not have anything major to say tonight and the visitors did not struggle to win the midfield battle against him.

Forwards

Tanase: 5/10 – His delivery on corners was poor tonight and his involvement in some of the attacks was not as impactful.

Birligea: 6/10 – He almost scored a goal, was unfortunate to hit the underside of the crossbar.
