Manchester United 2-1 Rangers Player Ratings: Bruno Fernandes’ Late Winner Keeps Top 2 Hopes Alive

Manchester United have kept their hopes of finishing in the top 2 alive thanks to a late winner from Bruno Fernandes. The Red Devils dominated the match but could not do much in front of goal.

Jack Butland punched Manchester United ahead in the match after the former Red Devils loanee misread the ball from Christian Eriksen and deflected it into his own net. He made some good saves to keep them in the match and that saw Cyriel Dessers equalize with just one minute to go in normal time.

However, Bruno Fernandes scored a stunning late winner to seal a 2-1 win and help the Red Devils move to 4th in the table. The loss left Rangers 13th and in an almost impossible situation to finish in the top 8.

Altay Bayındır – 8: Brilliant at the back and never looked like he was going to let Rnagers score today. Ruben Amorim will have to think if he should play the Turkish star ahead of Andre Onana for the rest of the season.

Defenders

Leny Yoro – 6.5: Struggled today and that saw Amroim take him off before the hour mark. He was decent on the ball but could not do much in defense.

Matthijs de Ligt – 7: He was take off at half time and Manchester United fans will be hoping that it is not an injury issue. He was solid at the back and never gave the Rangers players any space.

Lisandro Martinez – 7.5: Another solid performance for the Argentine and he was their best defender today. He charged ahead in the final minutes and got an assist with a brilliant cross as well.

Midfielders

Amad Diallo – 6: Played more as at attacker than a right wing-back today. Stayed up front for most of the match, but failed to get on the scoresheet.

Toby Collyer – 6.5: He was struggling today and his biggest contribution was marking Jack Butland during the corners.

Bruno Fernandes – 8.5: Another captain’s performance from the Manchester United star. He was all over the pitch and scored the winner in injury time.

Diogo Dalot – 6.5: He was linking up well with Alejandro Garnacho, but could not do much today.

Forward

Christian Eriksen – 7.5: It was a decent game for the Denmark star and his corner broke the deadlock today. He played just over 70 minutes and was linking up well.

Alejandro Garnacho – 7.5: No goal or assist for the Argentine in what could be his final match for Manchester United. He was hungry for a goal but hs shot was either saved or blocked on the line.

Joshua Zirkzsee – 6: He struggled to link up with his teammates today and was clearly the weak link in their attack.

Jack Butland – 7: The goalkeeper made some brilliant saves but his own goal changed things in the match. He also got nutmegged for the winner from Bruno Fernandes.

Defenders

James Tavernier – 8: He was the best player for the away side today, and he was desperate for them to get back in the game. He got the assist for their goal, but it was more of a hit-and-hope situation.  

Leon Balogun – 6: He struggled to get into the game and had to be taken off at halftime.

Robin Propper – 6.5: He was brilliant today and even made a clearance off the line. He ensured that his side was in the match and that took it until the end.

Jefte – 6: He was up and down the pitch today but never got the help in the final third.

Midfielders

Connor Barron – 6.5: Nothing he could do today and got taken off at halftime because of an injury.

Nicolas Raskin – 7: He came close to scoring today but that early shot was his best contribution in the final third. Stayed back and helped the defenders deal with the Manchester United attackers.

Václav Černý – 5.5: He ran up and down the pitch but never got involved in the match. Got taken off at the hour mark after he picked up an injury.

Nedim Bajrami – 6.5: He was all over the pitch and just could not get himself near the box in time.

Rıdvan Yılmaz – 6.5: He played almost the full match but never managed to do anything special. Ran up and down the flanks to help out the fullbacks.

Hamza Igamane – 7: He had two shots in the game but both of them came from miles out and did not trouble the Manchester United goalkeeper.
