Chelsea 3-1 Wolverhampton Player Ratings: Chalobah Shines on Return, Sánchez Struggles as Blues Reclaim Top 4 Spot

Chelsea have ended their winless run in the Premier League and are back in the Top 4. Goals from Noni Madueke and Marc Cucurella saw them ease to a 3-1 win after a poor end to the first half.

Tosin gave the home side a much-deserved lead before Matt Doherty scored a late goal in the first half to make it 1-1, thanks to some help from Robert Sanchez.

Chelsea player ratings vs Wolverhampton

Cole Palmer
Cole Palmer (ChelseaFC/X)

Robert Sánchez – 3: His error gave Wolverhampton some confidence right at half time. It was his 4th error leading to a goal today, and it remains a surprise that he continues to be the club’s #1.

Defenders

Marc Cucurella – 7.5: Not his best game today but he still managed to get a goal to his name. Started as a leftback and finished the match as a midfielder because of the injury issues at the club.

Tosin Adarabioyo – 8: He seems to have taken it upon him to score the goals for Chelsea in 2025. He got his 3rd of the calendar year after scoring twice in the FA Cup clash.

Trevoh Chalobah – 9: Man of the match on his return to Chelsea. Rock solid in defense and almost got a goal too before Madueke stole it on the line.

Reece James – 8: Played 75 minutes today and that was a big boost for Chelsea more than his performance. He was brilliant from start to end – always in position where needed.

Midfielders

Pedro Neto – 6: Not his best game but neither his worst. Kept crossing int the box, but most of them found the heads of his former teammates.

Noni Madueke – 7: Was having a tough time on the pitch as his attempts were getting blocked and never got the space to drive into the box. He stole the goal from Chalobah but he will take it.

Cole Palmer – 8: The only player in the Chelsea side who was creating chances today. He was dropping deep when they had the ball and was closer to the half line than the fullbacks.

Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – 7: Decent game after getting added to the starting XI for the injured Enzo Fernandez. His flick turned out to be an assist for Cucurella.

Moisés Caicedo – 8.5: Looked tired from the very start and gave the Chelsea fans an injury scare in the first half. Still managed to pull off a brilliant performance today.

Forward

Nicolas Jackson – 8: He did not score or assist today, but the striker did have the ball in the back of the net, only for it to be ruled out for offside. He was relentless despite looking exhausted.

Substitutes

Jadon Sancho – 6.5

Axel Disasi – 6

Malo Gusto – 7

Tyrique George – 6.5

João Félix – 6

Manager

Enzo Maresca – 7: He got most of the things right, but still took too long to make substitutions.

Wolverhampton player ratings vs Chelsea

Cunha
Cunha (Wolves/X)

José Sá – 7: The goalkeeper was busy today and had to make three saves in the game. He was always having Jackson on his toes every time he got the ball from his teammates.

Defenders

Matt Doherty – 7: Scored the goal for Wolves but almost gifted Chelsea just before he got on the scoresheet. He did well against Neto, but Sancho gave him a tough time.

Santiago Bueno – 6.5: Excellent in dealing with Jackson but could not do a lot about the goals they conceded. He was spot-on with his passing as well.

Emmanuel Agbadou – 7.5: He made sure Madueke never got any space today and was brilliant in keeping the Chelsea man on his weaker foot.

Rayan Aït-Nouri – 6.5: He was all over the pitch but never looked like he was making an impact in the match.

Nélson Semedo – 6.5: Nothing he could do whole game and was isolated most of the time.

Midfielders

André – 6: He was lucky not to have got a red card today for kicking out at Cole Palmer. The referee and VAR seemed to have missed it, or opted to ignore it.

João Gomes – 7: He was running up and down the whole match. He created three chances today, but teh Wolves forwards failed to make the most of it.

Matheus Cunha – 7.5: He was once again the best player on the pitch for Wolves, but the Chelsea defenders did well to deal with him.

Pablo Sarabia – 6.5: He was all over the pitch and never managed to do anything in the final third.

Forward

Jørgen Strand Larsen – 6: No goal or assist and his shots were saved easily. There was nothing he could do to shake off Tsoin and Chalobah off him today.

Substitutes

Rodrigo Gomes – 7

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde – 6

Gonçalo Guedes – 6

Manager

Vitor Pereira – 7: He could have done nothing more today. The system was solid to frustrate Chelsea, but the home side managed to make the most of their chances.
